Londoner with an Amsterdam heart. More left than right. Love rock music, cats, wine, history, Italy. Proud to be a Rockie (if you know what that is). Not a fan of conspiracy theories.
You are spot on about the Dutch system. Its strenghth is that it never gives all power to one party or person. If you want to govern, you have to compromise.

But the system fails when you get large parties like the Freedom Party, who refuse to do so. I hope Dutch voters will recognise that.

Interessant @fredomvlee.bsky.social

The US has a history of attacking countries that are close to having weapons of mass destruction.

Isn’t this the same case?

The tragedy is that Reform panders to people who really don’t care about accurate numbers. Just like the £350m claim on the Brexit Bus.

Reformers understand three numbers: one, two and very much

Kemi Badenoch is dumb enough to keep banging on about brexit, whilst Nigel Farage is smart enough to distance himself from it.

Representing the old constituents of Clacton-on-Sea on the international stage again, is he?

The UK voted to vacate their seat at the table and the EU are not going to give it back for free. And why would they?

Of course there is always the option of rejoining…

Always love the attitude @supertanskiiii.bsky.social 🤣

You are spot on of course. Brexit was never going to work and surprise surprise…it never worked!

I quite like the UK, but, paradoxically, I will like it far less if liking it becomes compulsory…

Spot on Femi!

The most laughable is where she tries to go into the debate about the EU not being one country. That is totally irrelevant here and it shows how much she is clutching at straws.

Trump must be in extraordinary health indeed. He has already survived meetings with JD Vance and with Liz Truss.

The Telegraph has still not understood that the UK does about 3 times more trade with the EU than with the US.

Their headline should read: US trade deal risks EU reset.

Trump thinks in zero sum games: everything that is bad for someone else is good for you.

He has no idea about creating win-win situations. They just don’t exist in his world.

Problem is: the economic consequences are not short-term. They will be felt as long as the tariffs are in place
April 1, 2025 at 6:10 AM
One more point: when Trump imposed tariffs during his 1st term, they increased the cost of living by about $1000 per US household. Biden did not reverse most of these so US consumers are still paying them.

The tariffs did create a few US jobs but at a cost to US consumers of ca. $850,000 per job.
