I saw this pattern on Twitter (lol) back in 2018 and decided that I needed to have it immediately. Started it, lost it for a minute, found it, and have been slowly working on it since we moved. I decided today that I didn't want it following me into 2025 as a WIP, and lo! A finished project!

Some highlights of our holiday decorating spree today! Happy Solstice and Frohe Weihnachten!

'Tis the season where I can get away with wearing one of my favorite sweaters ever! My 18-yr-old English student thought it was hilarious. The older ladies in choir rehearsal were slightly more confused, and I had to explain that Americans will make a holiday sweater out of literally anything.

Today was the first day of our city's Weihnachtsmarkt! Amazing food options (and Glühwein of course), tons of local craftspeople selling cool stuff, and a local choir singing Billy Joel and The Greatest Showman (very seasonal 😂)

Went to our favorite bakery today and got me a(nother) loaf of their Stollen. This time we also got the fancy tin too!
A tin rectangular box, stood on the long side on a windowsill so you can see the lid. The lid has a painted picture of the Mainzer Dom, a German cathedral built out of red sandstone. A tin box opened up, to display the shrink wrapped loaf of Stollen inside. The Stollen is covered in white sugar on the outside and has a red paper collar around the middle that reads "Original Mainzer Domstollen". Set upright in the top of the tin's lid is a paper insert with a picture of the Stollen sliced, showing the dense fruitcake interior.

Much like my ADHD brain looks up and suddenly realizes, "I haven't done that hobby in ages!" and goes to pick it up immediately, Lorelai wakes up multiple times a day and realizes that my lap is Available for Sleeping and comes over to aggressively cuddle me. This is one of many such instances.

Cons of Germany in the Autumn/Winter (Californian edition): The weather I was promised (a glimpse of the sun ☀️) vs. the actual weather all day. I just want a glimpse of the sun, please! It's been a week!

In my next attempt to get better with German, watching a show that I majorly hyperfocused on in high school. I literally read this script on a fan site almost as many times as I watched the episode, so I'm doing okay at tracking so far.

Today we're going to sign the contract for our new apartment! We've been in a 30m² Airbnb for over three months (necessary because you can't do ANYTHING in Germany without a German address apparently), and the place we got is 62m² and gorgeous! Will miss this view though.
