I'm looking at the noise! Specifically the power of talking the argument before even attempting to write. One of my students went from a rock-star outline to a mess on paper. Then, talked me through the outline and wrote a stellar paper! Power of the word...I want to structure it for classroom.

My grading philosophy does not mesh with my school's value in numbers, rank, and achievement. It is difficult to challenge because my kids buy into it by the time they get to me as 12th graders... ideas welcome!
