Your screenshot is irrelevant. ChatGPT would do the same thing for any writer. If it’s doing a good job of emulating your style it probably has been trained on your articles but that was almost certainly the case before the official partnership.

The source of the ad revenue was Google to begin with. It’s a brutal and very damaging move to be sure, but I’m not sure these site owners have ‘rights’ to maximise revenue from Google. I see it more as an issue of a massive power imbalance.

Ok this wasn’t phrased perfectly and I was dealing with space constraints. What I meant was that the biggest source of non-recuperable costs is the research, infrastructure development and then compute costs of creating a foundation model. Whereas the unit economics of inference are not doomed
