(I do totally understand that I’m yelling this into a void, but it feels cathartic so thank you if you end up reading this for hearing my silly thoughts out 🙃)

Do you see how these are distinctly not mentorship?! It’s like you’re their campaign manager! You don’t teach them how to do the work (that’s the mentors role!) you bring them into the room where things happen!

You’re in a meeting hearing about problems at a higher level and mentioning the ways in which your sponsee is tackling this!

You’re telling them how decisions get made at the place you work at and how to find allies to help push your campaigning further

You’re inviting them to channels they don’t know about, suggesting their blog posts to higher ups, connecting them to outward meet ups and conferences that you know about

When you’re sponsoring someone, I like to think of it like you’re their personal PR
