Hi, BlueSky! I'm Jess. I'm a writer, sometimes a poet, Lumbee native, and a geriatric millennial. If you like nature, writing, historical fantasy with a heavy dose of romance, fairy tales and folklore, or witchy vibes—let's be friends.

Sixteen years ago a woman traded a child for information that would save a kingdom.
Now that daughter, who the world thinks is dead, has to find her soulmate and convince him to help break the curse on her--if the vine growing from her body doesn't kill her first.

Finally, if someone says “well, as a normative matter, this would pretty much destroy the country and plunge us into fascism, but I do think we should entertain the argument on legal grounds,” I really think their definition of good faith differs from mine.

The thing with all these white supremacist groups that do marches...just show your face.

Like, if you're gonna use your time, money, and allegiance to do this kind of organizing then say it with your whole chest and show your face.

trying to strip Native people of their birthright citizenship is a *litmus test* for all of YOU.

the regime is testing how far you’ll go when it comes to standing beside Natives for more immediate things. have you looked into Project 2025’s agenda to privatize and sell off National Forest lands?

I love when a non-fiction book has a sizable chunk of end notes and references. It not only tells me there's more to read, but that the author put in the work to support their premise.

I'd really love to meet more BIPOC writers. I didn't take the opportunity years ago on book twt and I don't want to repeat the same mistake! Anyone have recommendations or any starter packs out there for BIPOC writers (regardless of status — aspiring, unagented, agented, published, etc)?

This is the dystopian novel I need. Preferably with a cute second chance romance. 🥾

According to my man-cub child, only old people use emojis & complete sentences in their posts.

Well...I can't resist an emoji. ✨👵🏼I'll be old. Emoji's are basically drawing peace signs & hearts in the corner of your paper anyways, right? ☮️ 💚😊

(Honestly, that lineup looks better in 90s #2 pencil.)

I really admire authors who only show up on social media a few times a year to throw down a new manuscript and say, "Well, I did a thing."

That's some self-control I'll never have. But I admire it.
