Although I do wonder how much of this was driven by the FDR fixed effect, one could easily question if it’s ever feasible in today’s environment to have an agency that serves as a "21st-century equivalence."

Setting up the TVA was a long and challenging process even in the 1920s and 1930s when the conditions strongly favored public power over private power.

One thing to add from the history - It’s worth noting that the establishment of TVA dates back to the 1920s when people started debating over years on who can operate and sell the power generated primarily from the Wilson dam.

It may even be possible to solve the interconnection issues that utilities and project developers are facing today, if there’s more transmission capacity on the system.

The idea of creating an even bigger regional power pool, operated by a federal agency who can plan and build transmission lines, is really appealing.
