It’s been rainy in SoCal, so of course Penny is wearing her zarape.

Buffalo Hunter Hunter was so tragic, well-written, grotesque, and creative. Do recommend for anyone who hasn’t read any Stephen Graham Jones yet and would enjoy a Native take on a vampire story.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Dr. Jane Goodall’s passing has hit me hard. It feels so dark here right now and she was fierce in her conviction to keep hope at the center. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to do an event with her ages ago. She was a real one.

I’m traveling to Montana and Minnesota in October. It might be the most autumnal experience I’ve ever had to date.

In SoCal our trees have two seasons: leaves and no leaves.

Very excited for crisp air, water, mountains, and beautiful amber and vermillion foliage 🍁

But I took some breaths and learned about gay animals on a queer ecology walk today with Friends of the LA River and @jasonjourneyman.bsky.social so there’s that. Despite the horrors we persist.

Another day, another dumpster fire.
Skirmetti just came back. 6-3 against healthcare for trans minors.

This is nauseating.

Such a mess. I’m ready to get off the ride.
With everything else going on, the Senate sent the Big 💩 Bill back to the House, and made some changes. Here’s one:

Trying to follow all the raids in my little LA suburb has been exhausting. In case folks are curious, this is how widespread it was… today. And it’s not all of LA even pictured here. This is just the east part of the County in my neck of the woods.

Anti-trans disinfo runs on fossil fuels, and hating on Trans people is the new "climate is a hoax".

An independent analysis of 45 right-wing groups advocating against trans rights found that 80% have received donations from fossil fuel companies or billionaires.

ICE has been infesting LA communities the past two days. National guard on their way and threats from garbage person Hegseth to send marines.

Tomorrow there are reports of raids coming right to my front door here in Whittier.

I’m such a nerd with how excited I am to see Bring Her Back. It’s like pulling a handbrake in an otherwise normal conversation. One minute, we’re talking weather, the next, my eyes are ablaze and my hands shake as I ramble on about a niche, disturbing A24 horror film. Yes, I am well-adjusted 🤗
