For #factcheckfriday we want to make it clear RFKJ is NOT banning artificial food dyes. 🍬🍭🍬

But for 2 rare dyes, all he did was ASK food companies to phase out petro-based dyes.

The same food companies that will no longer be inspected by the FDA since they canceled routine food inspection.
🙈🙉🙊
RFK Jr.'s effort to phase out artificial food dyes is not an outright ban — nor effective immediately
Kennedy's plan to eliminate the dyes needs the food companies to go along — he doesn't appear to have an enforcement mechanism in place.

Thinking of federal workers today affected by the RIF layoffs 💔The public health implications of these decisions will be astounding. I worry for the public health workforce and next generation of scientists ☹️

The hardest part about public health is that when we succeed, there's no crisis, no epidemic. People carry on with daily life, unaware of a near-miss. We may never know how bad it could have been - because our public health workforce is always taking action to avoid, prevent, and control threats.
