Opinions my own
Thank you! We’ve read together almost every day - even when I used to travel for work. My son is adopted, black, and neurodivergent, and he loves superheroes. Logan is a lot like him.

The system won’t let me DM you.

TOT, my 11 yr old son, and I immediately cackled and agreed.

We read aloud together every single night, and this is our latest.

The Logan Foster series are great books! Check them out: aesopsfable.com/products/the...
The Unforgettable Logan Foster #1
Logan Foster is your average, awkward twelve-year-old, if by ”average” you’re imagining an orphan with a ridiculously detailed photographic memory and new foster parents who are hiding some world-chan...

It’s better discussion, less noise, and far less warmongering.

Yes! This is the problem with our car culture focused laws and regulations. If you don’t drive for whatever reason, you have no way of proving you exist. It’s horrible and othering.

This is awesome.

I’m 52. For most of my life I slept 3-4hrs nightly with a few longer sleeps every few weeks. 2 sleep studies found I’m just wired like that. I used to do multiple 24-30hr days back to back with 6-8 hrs between. I’m sure this was very bad for me.
Since I had COVID in 2022 I need 5hrs or I crash hard.

Also, we must consider climate change effects on where you are vs where you would go.

Many of us consider places near oceans, but those will look very different in a few years, and without desalination, the largest source of water is undrinkable and can’t be used on crops.

We’ve found that people aren’t vocal about this. They quietly plan to slink away unnoticed rather than risk confrontation while they escape. I very much respect this approach.

You are not alone. We are not alone.

The counter argument is supposedly to get a non-driving government ID.

However, the documents needed are often hard to get like bank statements the bank has stamped and multiple forms of proof of citizenship and residency.

Many of these require time out of work people can’t afford to lose.

We discuss this routinely, and we keep finding that there aren’t any viable alternatives that don’t involve swapping out the problems we would be fleeing for problems we would be gaining. So for now, Tennessee, USA it is.

It’s surprising how many people don’t think through privacy and safety from the abuses, intentional or not, of our militarized police forces.

It’s bad enough we leave our digital fingerprints everywhere online, but asking them to put a tracker on your person or car without warrants is crazy.

It’s things like this that slip past most of our attention and have such huge impacts on the future of our country.

Thank you for posting it.

Oh, yes! I agree, being forced to look at horrifying things that haunt my sleep just to prove I’m not using my privilege to avoid something is stupid. Those people tend to enjoy the vicarious thrill of seeing things they normally wouldn’t experience from their place of apparent safety.

I’ll pass.
