Tax increases for half-measures that don’t make things feel better are much harder to defend than tax increases that materially improve the experience people have with government services - whether that is better parks or smoother streets. Half-measures are easier to attack and harder to defend.

Yes. Time and time again Democrats respond as if conservatives are acting in good faith when they fight a tax increase on behalf of lower and middle class families instead of recognizing these rhetorical tricks. People are more content to pay taxes if they feel like they make their lives better.

Nah they need to pay an absolute premium over valuation after the stunt they pulled with the player and his agent. You don’t get throw a tantrum and then walk out for a discount.

I was in law school when Shelby County v Holder came out. That case was enough for me and many of my classmates to start calling BS on this. Here we are 12 years later smdh

We need to have some conversations about what’s going on in Salem and how to move forward. There is a theme of under-resourcing children, which is a troubling sign for our future!

There are three or so democrats who do not support the bill. One of them had to be removed as chair of the committee so that it could get out the first time.

We must make it clear that we will not let our guard down and that we stand in lockstep against any effort to eliminate Preschool For All. My hope is that when we win, we will then carry this energy forward and enact universal preschool for ALL Oregon children.
