Using the threat of calling immigration officials on workers as a form of intimidation and control is an egregious form of retaliation that has long been used by unscrupulous employers. Oregon law protects these workers.

“Well, she broke the rules, so I guess that makes sense?”, his voice pitching up, revealing a lack of certainty. What do you think about the rule? Was that a good rule? Now with certainty, “No! People can sit where they want. People are different but they can still sit anywhere on the bus.” 15/22

Yes, I said, that’s right. She went to jail because she broke the rules. The law.
He was thinking. Now mature enough that he is processing this without moving on to something else, I let it sit for a second. I then asked him if it made sense to him that she went to jail? 14/22

try to change the rules, and that’s what Rosa Parks was doing. So, he asked, what happened when she broke the rules, did the police come? Yes, the police did come. Did Ross Parks go to jail? She did go to jail. He connects the dots, declaring that she went to jail because she broke the rules. 13/22

See, TriMet, as part of Black History Month, dresses some busses up to honor Rosa Parks. They abandon completely their iconic blue and orange coloring and instead are made to look like replicas of the Montgomery City Lines buses, dark green on a rich marigold color, white on top. 2/22

Looking to Kash Patel a bit and this is the description of his legal career on his Wikipedia page. He spent 8 years as a public defender then went to US DOJ National Security Division. That seems like an unusual path! Is there more to the story? Is this more typical at the federal level?

Both of the actions below will sweep up United States citizens, not to mention immigrants who are lawfully present in the United States. These actions will be carried out without due process, and particularly the expedited removals will be extremely difficult to observe and challenge.

From @dirquez.bsky.social, Lesly Muñoz has taken a one (1!!!) vote lead in OR House District 22. If she wins, Democrats will have a supermajority in both chambers. This is based on cured ballots, and there are more outstanding. Amazing!

Another interesting post-election comment on Portland Street Response, this time from Olivia Clark on the @rosecityreform.bsky.social Stump Talk Podcast: “… They're offering some immediate water, a listening ear, but they're not really solving a problem or moving anybody anywhere.”
