As a charity, we know that what happened to Jess is not an isolated case. Too many young people are diagnosed too late because it is assumed they are too young for cancer. We hope this training will support GPs to diagnose earlier. Please share. 🧵4/4

It took a private, self-funded referral for Jess to be diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma, cancer of an unknown primary. She was immediately admitted to hospital and, devastatingly, passed away just three weeks later. #earlydiagnosis 🧵3/4

STAHs Prep did Jess proud when they raised over £1,000 for the Trust. Jess would have loved the excitement around the school as the pupils enjoyed organising stalls, games & competitions. Not only was a lot of money raised, but also a lot of smiles. Thank you so much!

Jess was a member of her local youth theatre group, Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society, from the age of 9 to 16. Her first production was as one of Fagin’s gang in the musical Oliver!. Seven years later, she played the title role in The Pied Piper. 1/2🧵

According to @CRUK, if bowel cancer is diagnosed at Stage 1 there is 90% chance of survival, for five years or more following diagnosis, if diagnosed at Stage 4 this is reduced to 10%. 🧵2/8
