Still a grapefruit enthusiast. She/her.
...her work mattered to me, and I'll keep sharing it with any student I meet. From Year of the Tiger: "ALICE AT 6: When am I going to die?
ALICE AT 48: Oh brother. As I said earlier, I don't know, but the not-knowing part isn't all bad. We can't know or control everything no matter how hard we try."

Ya, there’s a reason the CBC has disabled comments on every news story about anything Indigenous-related for the past ten years. The comment section was so reliably racist and in violation of posting guidelines that it had to be made an official policy.

Finding things disgusting or distasteful is not the same as caring. I’m doing the opposite of saying he has moral sensibilities. As I said above, it’s more of an aesthetic distaste, not a moral response.

Yes, that’s along the lines of what I’m saying: distasteful, like “ugh, I don’t want to see this.” More aesthetic than moral.

I think he does find certain things distasteful, and that’s one of them. I don’t think it’s the same emotion others might feel, but he seems to have a sense of disgust and distaste.

“Prideful need to have sized up a person”: this is it, the perfect encapsulation of so many issues I’ve had with nurses. Thank you for the perfect phrase!

Agreed. The admins seem to have very little long-term vision about this, in comparison with us profs. It's very frustrating.

I think they're reducing in-person exams because it costs money (staffing the accessibility centre for exam accommodations, losing income from renting out campus space to other groups, staffing the scheduling at the registrar) and with online exams the cheating is out of control.

Or groundhogs! Huge beautiful kale plants reduced to single stumps in one day.

Ya, you can see why we aren't generally so excited about all the "cherished 51st state" talk...

These costs just floor me. I went to the ER for vertigo recently and had an MRI within an hour, and the only bill I received in the mail was $45 co-pay for the ambulance ride. Canadian health care is not perfect, but what you all go through is wrong and unnecessary and I cannot imagine the stress!

I liked that she stayed open-ended about what she meant by "contribute to the nation's greatness." Because yes, there's been far too much meeting him on his terms about what a worthy contribution looks like for the past 24 hours.

Ya I mark college papers, and one way I can tell is I feel my eyes glazing over in a certain way as I read. It’s not an old-school “well, this is boring.” It feels like I’m reading nothing.

Considering Canadians had to drive to the States to get Novavax this year because Canada decided not to order any, it might not be a sure bet.
