NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Why do child abduction alarm and voice alerts sound like weather alerts from the 1980s?

Today is the last day to sign up for DRP 2.0. I'm not taking it even though Vought has successfully made our lives as miserable as his. Do you know how hard it was to get here? They're going to have to drag me out.

The NWS did send out automated weather alerts about the Texas flooding on Thursday and on Friday, but local officials also need to be way more on the ball with their own comms strategy beyond “half-assed X and Facebook messages.”

Texas officials face scrutiny over response to catastrophic and deadly flooding
KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) — Before heading to bed before the Fourth of July holiday, Christopher Flowers checked the weather while staying at a friend's house along the Guadalupe River. Nothing in the for...

I'd really love to know how many children have died under Greg Abbott's watch. Uvalde and Camp Mystic could've totally been prevented if his government actually was capable of being proactive. We already know he's great at blame and incapable of accepting accountability.

13 dead and 20 girls from a summer camp are missing from severe flooding in TX. NWS offices are short staffed across all of TX because trump administration fired so many NOAA employees.
OMG
Look at the stream gauge at Hunt Texas. 7 ft over the Major flood stage. I added in other gauges from the Guadelupe down stream.

The current administration is proposing 565 million in cuts to the USGS including closing the ecosystem division. We may not have these stream gauges much longer.

I 100% blame the catastrophic damage and loss of lives in the Texas floods on the Trump administration's decimation of the National Weather Service and NOAA. There's no excuse for the lack of warnings.

147k new jobs added last month is surprising like 77 million popular votes in the 2024.

I think at least some of you follow because of NASA flavored things. And I am hearing some VERY bad things that are getting memory holed as quickly as they occur.

Not only that, but significant chunks of leadership at NASA Centers have been taking early retirement offers, leaving staff unprotected

I have nowhere else I can say this right now. I'm in a deputy position in my agency. My chief just took the DRP. Tons of my colleagues are taking it. Like, a surprising amount of people. Folks with decades of experience. This is a set up for very bad things happening.

Man it's crazy how much of civil unrest gets blamed on these nefarious, unidentified, outside agitators who never get found despite the largest and most capable military, police, and intelligence infrastructure mankind has ever known. Fuckin' Carmen Sandiego is apparently the one inciting riots.

CNN’s Jason Carroll was zip-tied and escorted away—for reporting the news. But they claimed he wasn’t under arrest?

Why are they shooting rubber bullets at and silencing journalists? We still have a First Amendment.

The cop intentionally shot the reporter. It must be investigated.👇
WIDER ANGLE: In this size the cop shooting Australian reporter @laurentomasi.bsky.social with rubber bullets looks even more intentional.
Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)
