Passionate about genealogy and weather
Hello #GenHour, I am just landing back in New York following a work trip on the west coast. I had a great time.

Unfortunately, I haven't had much time for #genealogy research this week.

Today is the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I can't believe so much time has passed.

Never forget.

Hey!

That is really cool. The TV show must be new. It is called "Breakthrough with David Lomas".

I received a message from David Lomas' Ancestry account. Here's the proof!

Hi #GenHour, I am back from a family cruise to Alaska. It was a great trip. We were lucky to have had excellent weather with little to no rain!

This looks to be a new tactic from the VA about the recent #FOIA requests.

They will only give basic #genealogy information contained in civil records while withholding the claim file!

What can I do to fight this??

Hi #GenHour, today I heard from my cousin in France that the French-edition of our book has been printed. It looks great!

The book is about the sister of my great-grandmother, who was my closest relative to have died in the Holocaust. It features letters she wrote to my great-grandmother.

Hi #GenHour, earlier this afternoon I attended an information session hosted by Christa Cowan about #Ancestry's new "Club 1890". You can read more about it here: www.ancestry.com/c/club-1890

I decided to attend the webinar to learn more about it and report back to everyone here!

While my family was in mourning for my grandmother in my uncle's home, I learned that my aunt and uncle had boxes of materials related to my grandparents. I had not known about this previously!

And in one of the boxes, I found these two photos of my 3rd great-grandparents.

The family also shared this article dated 26 Aug 1939. Just days before the outbreak of WWII, my cousin's 2nd great-grandparents were tragically killed in a fatal car accident in Krakow, Poland. It was written about extensively in the newspapers. I hadn't known about the accident.

It is a superb weather day here in the NYC metro. Clear skies, temps in the low 70s, and no humidity. 10/10.

This final letter was not sent directly to my family, who by this time in the war was living in New Orleans. It was mediated by a woman named "Madame Fouter" who lived in the town of Antibes in southern France.

Hi #GenHour, I've been thinking a lot about the #23andMe news this week and wanted to share some of my thoughts. It's been a tough week. 🧵

There is some precipitation falling from these low-ceiling clouds. There are even reports of snow showers in the higher elevations to the north and west of NYC.
