We are a long way indeed from systematically collecting and acting on the voices of patients. Abolishing Healthwatch and handing responsibility for its work to ICBs (which are themselves undergoing massive reorganisation) is in my own view a very bad move indeed by DHSC.
NEW: Andy Burnham will issue a warning to Wes Streeting over the government’s abolition of a national network of “patient voice” bodies

Burnham's intervention comes amid fears locally that the move could “silence” residents' views

Aagh! If you are listing things and say "a", you must subsequently say "b" (and certainly not "2", or just nothing). It's the law

Is it legally possible to defame someone who is immune to defamation? The world is divided into people who already think Trump is a c*** and those who worship him either regardless or because of what he does. So how can his reputation ever be damaged?

You’re right to be angry. It is the abandonment of decency by a party that once claimed to be serious. These people are wicked and heartless opportunists who would sell their own grandmothers for a few votes.
The whole idea makes me not want to live here any more *and I was born here*. I only hold a UK passport. But it's fairly clear that the likes of Lam do not want a family like mine to live here.

It seems ridiculous letting my blood boil over it because it is unlikely to happen, but I can't help it.

Anyone else have a Vodafone dongle K5161Z that can't be used because Windows 11 has prevented the laptop ports from installing the necessary software? Vodafone are not being helpful about it.

If I were running Labour comms I would commission an app called 'Will the Tories/Reform deport you?' then let the reactions on TikTok and Instagram do their work.

For anyone who's wondering about this, particularly in the UK: yes, do email or message your Jewish friends with a word of support. It makes a huge amount of difference.

It looks bad for Rowley. In denial about institutional racism and misogyny & it takes undercover journalists to get him to acknowledge the problem. Asleep at the wheel

It was enormously encouraging to hear Starmer taking the fight to Reform and calling out Farage for the scumbag he is
hardly anyone will watch Starmer's appearance at Labour conference today but it was probably the best speech he's ever given

he clearly signposted what he stands for - a diverse, tolerant, decent Britain - and how be believes progressives are in an existential fight with the populist right

Re Charlie Kirk it is possible to believe that political violence is always wrong and also that some people bring the violence upon themselves through their own violent rhetoric. In other words it is possible to hold more than one thought in one’s head at the same time.

Totally agree
Government has got this spectacularly wrong.

If an organisation is breaking the law, prosecute it.

But arresting people for holding up signs is a waste of police time, it's increasing support for the organisation &, above all, it's a flagrant violation of free speech.

What has been happening in Gaza has always been genocide and it’s good more people are coming around to that brutal reality but it also needs to be noted that those who have spending the last two and half years attacking anyone correctly calling it a genocide can never be trusted again.

Emergency demonstration supported by Jews for Justice for Palestine , Monday 28 July, from 5.30pm
UK Foreign Office, King Charles Street, London SW1A 2AH

"Jews in the UK demand forceful action to stop Israel’s starvation, displacement and bombing of Palestinians in Gaza."
July 26, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Good. The UK should follow suit. This is a move that as a Jew I support. I would like to hear the British Jewish community doing likewise. The days of reflex support for Israeli policy are over.

It’s chilling, but also a reminder that there are some very stupid people working in the police force
"one officer told her “Mentioning freedom of Gaza, Israel, genocide, all of that all come under proscribed groups, which are terror groups" Really? Arrest #metoo then? PS I'm Jewish
