Reading Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing for the first time since college, and I’m realizing now that a lot of it’s DNA is in Ewing’s Immortal Hulk.

Wrote about #BlackMirror and its season 7 premiere, in which the technology is cool but the material conditions that surround it very much isn’t.
With “Common People,” Black Mirror Says Technology Isn’t the Problem
Does technology make us worse? Black Mirror would say “yes.” At least, that’s what it would say according to its detractors. The show, and its creator Charlie Brooker, have something of a reputation…

Went to an anti-Trump rally today, and it was a weird mix of anarchists/socialists decrying the class warfare against the poor and liberals who think Trump is bad because he’s fat.

I wish DC would do the Marvel thing and let the creatives behind a comic write about their experiences in the last issue of their run. It adds a human touch and it can be an insight into what they thought of the work.

Felt like writing something, because the world’s getting worse, and I’m angry about it.
Liberalism’s Fair Weather Support of Immigration

John Fetterman did one good thing before becoming an apologist for genocide—keeping Dr. Oz from having a position of power in the government—and now even that’s gone. Guy truly was useless, huh?

Returning to Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and happy to say my preferred solution to issues still works: tossing an ignizol at any and all enemies and killing them with fire.

An idea that I think would have some legs in the comic book world would be to have new artists create comics from old, classic scripts. Have them go in blind (or as blind as possible by not re-reading the existing comic), and see how their take on a script produces a new work.

I’m so stupid happy that Polygon published my article about House of the Dragon. It’s about the various thematic meanings of the dragons in the show. Give it a read if you’re keen :)

Do you think there’s a Star Wars version of Joe Biden who spoke at Emperor Palpatine’s funeral? Some centrist Galactic Senator who “wasn’t crazy about everything Sheev did, but, darn it, he could pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill [funding the Death Star]”?

My cat Pumpkin has been battling cancer and other health issues. If people could donate and/or share her GoFundMe, it would be immensely appreciated.

No we DON’T @kotaku.bsky.social . Please, it’s been less than a week, it’s a 90 hour game, and I’m like three hours in. I have two jobs, how the Hell am I supposed to have gotten to the ending yet? 😭

I started playing Doom 64 the other day (my first Doom), and I’m really digging it. I already want to go back and play the original. I normally don’t like FPSes (I’m terrible at precision headshots), but I really jibe w/ the arcade-y, fast-paced gameplay, which only requires aiming along one axis.

Funnily enough, the original run of the Exiles comic parodied this idea 17 years ago, using a multiversal team made up exclusively of Wolverines as a joke about how overexposed the character was/is.

I feel like Saladin Ahmed’s run on Daredevil is starting on some murky ground. He seems to want to take on things like QAnon conspiracies and fake news with his story of Matt being falsely accused of doing shady things with children. The problem is, Matt’s a CATHOLIC PRIEST.

“Shin Godzilla” is about neoliberalism’s inability to deal with a crisis. “Godzilla Minus One” is about how mutual aid and community defense practiced by everyday citizens and workers are the only ways to promote human life and flourishing.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has big “Last Jedi” energy. And while I think Last Jedi is probably the best Star Wars movie, I’m more conflicted about SPTO’s use of certain similar moves. I definitely respect what Lee O’Malley and team are doing, but, also, it’s kind of a bummer.
