I get you. I think the best things that we can do now is to keep living our lives the best way we can and to continue advocating for those who are suffering. They want us to live in fear and submission. Our joy is resistance to them. As the old saying goes, and no pun intended, love trumps hate.

And yet we’re going to hold the World Cup and the Olympics in a couple of years? How in the hell are we going to do that when we have ICE and Border Patrol literally arresting and kidnapping any immigrant they see fit? Makes no sense to me. I doubt they both get moved, but some urgency is to be had.

If I’m being honest with you, I don’t think I’ve been genuinely happy with what’s been going on for quite some time. And I thought 2020 was bad? This has the potential to top that, and we’re not even halfway through the year. Even here in PA, we’ve been dealing with some strange and awful shit.

I’m honestly too engaged by the Gunnery Sgt. Hartman and boot camp scenes that I completely forget there’s an entire second half of the film. I always think the film ends with Private Pyle’s death, even though it doesn’t.

And a war film with Americans being racist POS? That ain’t surprising to me.

I think what angers me most about Rowling isn’t just the fact that she’s a massive POS, it’s the fact that people recognize that but still enable her awful behavior because they “still love her works”. It’s infuriating. I want nothing more than to just have Miss Joanne here shut her stupid mouth.

And I’ll add that I’m not a fully-practicing Catholic. I have my gripes about the religion and the church, and I especially oppose their mistreatment of the LGBTQ+ community. But I know deep down in my heart that all the shit we’re seeing now isn’t what Jesus would’ve wanted. Not at all. Not ever.

I legitimately am hoping martial law doesn’t happen, though. I’d rather not be forced to watch The Daily Wire and Charlie Kirk on a daily basis, thank you very much. Nor do I want a curfew. Or to be arrested for literally nothing. Just let me and my friends live our lives, man. Please.

Knowing this government, knowing what the fascist orange is capable of, we could potentially go through a whole lot worse as a country. We could potentially endure martial law with no end in sight. But no matter what, we need to stay strong. We’re all we’ve got in the end, so might as well buddy up.

I feel like this whole year - hell, this entire half decade - has seemed like a blur. Just so much that has happened. An absolute roller coaster of emotions, and it’s only going to get crazier as we enter the second half of the 2020s. All I can say is buckle up. It’s gonna be something.

Is it to say that it’s been all bad? No. The various Pride parades, as well as the concluding celebration at WorldPride have allowed us to come together, and even if the protests in LA have seemed concerning, it’s shown the fighting spirit of a city that’s been through so much as of recent.
