All that to say, design is a decent amount of balancing a variety factors.

Weekly check-ins rely on having enough mental clarity and fortitude to bring up anything constructive if you want to avoid putting someone on blast. Especially if it’s been a week’s time and you’re cognitively cooked at the end of it.

“Company high fives” require enough mental bandwidth and time in between other projects to take action in praising another. And that only focuses on the positives rather than anything that could use refinement.

Performance reviews rely on at best detailed documentation and at worst, a vague recollection of experiences at most a year old.
