New manga got me to the bookstore today. Very excited about my three new acquisitions, but they have to wait there turn. I still have the fall of the galactic empire to learn about.

There is also a draw card pile and a discard pile that you can use as backup support when you're trying to make a match. To eliminate cards from the pyramid, you select cards that add to zero. This is a game developed by Joseph Kramer, but is on the hollow card Cantina free phone app

I finally learned how to play all six types of Sabacc on the Holocard Cantina mobile app. I'm loving it (other than Kessel which just rubs me the wrong way because of my pro-Spike bias, I think
Screen on a mobile video game called Holocard Cantina that shows the six different modes of play on the how to play screen. The modes are Kessel which is featured in Star Wars outlaws. Shift which I think was featured in the halcyon Cruise liner. Spike which is what you get from Galaxy's edge. Three cards spike which is a variant of Spike that seems to be for people that hated the rules of spike but like the cards. Classic which is apparently old-timer subac with wildly different cards from the other decks. Jedi Temple which is solitaire or pyramid solitaire.

I'm so excited to finally be playing Sabacc on my phone. Holocard Cantina rules. I already made my wife and son download it so they could play the Corellian Spike version with me. We have the actual cards, but the app is easier and keeps track of the rules for us.

Word of the day email for today, September 21st 2025, which also happens to be the date of some big ridiculous memorial in Arizona for a guy that a whole bunch of the speakers didn't actually care about one way or the other. The word of the day is lugubrious, which is a formal word use chiefly to describe something that is very sad especially in an exaggerated or insincere way.

I'm so sad that Exceptional X-Men is ending!!! I had no idea until I got to the last page where it says The End instead of See You Next Month. I really like Kitty Pryde and Axo and Bronze and Melee. Ugh. It was a great run. Such great characters.

A painting by Frank Stella, called scramble: ascending yellow values, descending spectrum from 1978. It is a big square with smaller squares inside it. What stands out to me is the purple, then smaller blue, then smaller green than bright yellow then reddish orange, and perhaps a tiny square of red. What I almost failed to notice are the slightly different shades of pale yellow between each of the color bands that interest me. This is a screenshot from the New Orleans museum of art website I couldn't find this one on the noma website, and I didn't think to take a picture of it in person, but I stood captivated for a while by sister of the Eastern Star, which is apparently by William t Williams, who is not the poet that I immediately thought of when I read the name. It features circles of different color arranged in a concentric manner with additional curve lines of different color cutting through and piercing the circles on their haphazard path through the painting. At first glance the green blue red black and gold stand out to me, and I enjoy the juxtaposition of the many colors and the order of the concentric circles being broken by the seemingly haphazard curves passing through

Loved our family trip to the New Orleans Museum of Art. One of our favorites was "oh shit, you're here for me?!?" With special guest appearances in the middle of the table by "who invited that fucker?" And "She's right here, officer, take her"

The painting features well-crest people sitting around a beautiful banquet table, but a naked skeleton has shown up and grabbed hold of one dudes chair. He puts his hand on his chest as if they say You're not here for me are you? A lady in the middle of the table looks outraged that death would show up to their party. The lady right beside her is pointing directly to her as if to say here she is death, come and get her. It turns out that's not even the lady death is there for. It is the guy who's chair he's grabbed. The face is on the people are so well illustrated and illuminated and painted that it's a real hoot to make up dialogue for the people around the table
