n the fall, when track & field season is over, I run around lakes in the weekend.

There is something satisfying about it. This weekend I ran my third lake of 2025… and had some issues with finding the shortest route.

You should think it should be easy… just keep the lake to the right side 😵‍💫

I have a strong belief in sports ability to connect people across boundaries - gender, age, nationalities, beliefs etc.
Ultimately leading to greater societal cohesion.

Does informal influence travel at sea? Yes!

This case shows influence networks across 50 vessels in Asia and Europe incl the seafarers off duty and onshore.

Notice influence travels across vessels, but Asia and Europe is disconnected.

3% still impact 90%.

Change analytics should not be treated as an unnecessary cost…

… it is an insurance
… it is a safety belt
… it is a parachute
… it is the umbrella
… it is the sun lotion
… it is the prepping
… it is your winter tires
… it is your life raft

Don’t embark on a major change without it.

Only once in my 20 years of organizational network analysis I have experienced this.

The networks = The org chart.

Still amazed.

Mostly there is maximum 50% overlap.

Many leaders emphasize the critics, listen to the talkers and forget the doers.

A better way is the other way around.

Work with the 3% that impact 90%.

Why work with the RIGHT 3% of people, and not just a RANDOM list? - because the random list impacts 12-15%, whereas the RIGHT list impacts 90%.

Remember this when someone claim, they know who must be engaged in change. Nobody knows. Except the people. Ask them.
