Please take a minute out of your day to call @gavinnewsom.bsky.social and urge him to sign a critical piece of pro-housing, pro-transit, pro-climate legislation.
Rumor is that Gavin Newsom is wavering on housing and might veto SB 79. If you live in California, please reach out to the governor’s office today: cayimby.org/call-sb-79/

All Californians: Please call Governor Newsome now and urge him to sign SB 79. It’s easy, you can wait to talk to a very friendly staff member or leave a message. Talking to a human probably best but either beats doing nothing!
Please call the Governor and ask him to sign SB 79!

2.9 million dead just because of cuts in global HIV funding. Millions more from cuts for global vaccines and other health, nutrition and humanitarian support. Trump and Elon are actually going to beat Pol Pot and close in on Mao on the mass death league table.

In the theme of abundance...I think we need more abundance on legislators. A US House of 800+ members, a California Assembly of 200, a California senate of 100, and LA City Council of 45+. It's insane we've not grown these bodies to be more representative of the diverse communities they govern.

If the UK, Canada, Europe were smart they'd dedicate a lot of resources to their universities to hire US STEM academics to improve their universities and research capabilities. I hate to see the US lose this intellectual capacity, but I'd hate more to see it lost to the world.
There are days in life that shake you.

I’m shattered 💔 to share that I just found out that the US Government terminated my 2024 NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (~$2 million), threatening my long-promised assistant professor job at Columbia University

For Trump/Musk life worthy of protecting = white and unborn.
Despite Elon Musk's claim that the foreign aid freeze hasn't killed anyone yet, Nick Kristof finds ample evidence to the contrary.

A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

Be like @captmarkkelly.bsky.social! I now decline Uber and Lyft rides when the offer is a Tesla, same with rental cars. I'm sad about the impacts on drivers who bought them and the emissions implications, but that pales in comparison to what Musk is doing via his $TSLA paper wealth.
I bought a Tesla because it was fast like a rocket ship. But now every time I drive it, I feel like a rolling billboard for a man dismantling our government and hurting people. So Tesla, you’re fired!

New ride coming soon.

The number of people who will die because of Musk's slashing is truly horrific. And to think these are people are the ones leading the charge on AI, which will have massive global implications on lives and livelihoods...they clearly won't care one bit.

This is why we need the state to take over. LA officials have completely failed in allowing more housing to make our city liveable. They are beholden to homeowners who fight any increased density near them, and for the good of the city, region and state we need the state gov to stop this madness.

Wholly agree. Also concerned about violence in response to that political backlash, especially now that Tarrio and similar ilk probably feel they can act with impunity.
Feel deep in my bones that the backlash to all of this is going to be enormous. Not sure how it will manifest and when it will explode into view, but confident it’s coming.
