My mom called them patrician potatoes and they’re fluffy, tasty twice baked potatoes that, bc they’re cooked, cooled then cooked again, they’re doable for folks who need to manage their blood sugar levels. And they taste great with additional ingredients for creative variations, too.

Klein himself has grown comfortable with the outright racism, bigotry, misogyny, and calls from MAGA and the rightwing for political violence and retribution against anyone they dislike. It’s the party platform and he gets it! So, those of who are targeted (and not comfortable white guys) should too

I had an odd exchange about this piece with a guy who majored in ITEC & now works as a technical product manager for AI platforms (his description).
It was a struggle for him to even imagine, much less understand, why humanities majors might be good hires.
It went downhill from here.

Me: Well, because those graduates [who majored in fields in the humanities] generally demonstrate better reading, communication, and critical thinking skills as well as open mindsets and higher emotional intelligence, they’re often hired for a wide range of positions across fields. It occasionally occurs to me that although we’re now more than four decades out from whomever first made the mistake, bureaucratic inertia and friction means it probably never get fixed until something happens that crashes the whole system.

I know this trustee type. He likes to say the university is a family — specifically, one in which he’s the patriarch to whom you must pay respect; faculty/staff/students should be seen, not heard; and employees are expected to sacrifice their time, labor, money and more for “the family.”
