And this is not the first time Lindsay Shepherd has complained about Orange Shirt Day, this is a long-running irritation for her, linked to residential school denialist beliefs and talking points.
An X post that reads: I will not be wearing orange this weekend because to do so would convey that I am OK with being misled about the history of Canada, and that I am OK with various First Nations claiming they have found 'unmarked graves of missing children' without presenting reliable evidence. An X post that reads: A display at the entrance of my local library. Libraries should be places where you seek truth. Instead they are outright featuring falsehoods. In response to a comment from another poster, an X post from Lindsay Shepherd that reads: I see where you're coming from. However many accounts suggest that enrolment in these schools was (largely?) voluntary and parents were eager for the education their children would receive so I am not sure how accurate that Kent Monkman depiction is (for example)

She's also not just a B.C. Conservative Party staffer. She was previously part of a group of young right-wingers who took over the party in 2022 and reinvented it. This March, the party praised her as one of its most dedicated volunteers. thetyee.ca/News/2024/10...

Lindsay continues to repeatedly post comments like these. She previously said she wants immigration to be cut by 95% and that white people are being discriminated against in the labour market.

Meanwhile, West Kelowna decided to not grant a permit because of security concerns (same reason given by many other municipalities).
