Yesterday’s fungi foraging course with Shony’s Mushrooms was a real treat. We walked through the Rivelin Valley just north of Sheffield and found some beautiful specimens. I popped some under the 🔬 for a closer look. See www.facebook.com/profile.php?...

When this tiny springtail got caught up in a fragment of moss it looked behind to see what was holding it back before dragging the offending article off with it! More videos here: www.facebook.com/share/1BfoyS...

What better to do on a dull February day than check out the inhabitants living in my garden moss? I wasn’t disappointed and even discovered a newcomer. A springtail, as kindly confirmed by @mosssafari.bsky.social. See www.facebook.com/profile.php?...

Tardigrades are endearing little creatures 😊. I found this one hiding in a moss sample taken from the garden. Need to work on getting a better shot of one and show off all its 8 legs!

It has been a day of spotting an angry nematode trying to break free, marvelling in the wonders of lichen up close, and the cellular structure of a tiny piece of moss 🔬. See link in my bio 👆

This beautiful film is on iPlayer just now featuring Merlin Sheldrake who wrote a wonderfully readable book about mycology called 'Entangled Life'.
The narration is perfect and in a film about mycology - could only be Björk.🌍
