I actually remember where and when I read it. It was so good.

Totally. My parents didn’t prepare me for any adulting whatsoever. My mother was shocked when she leaned I didn’t know how to balance a checkbook. She never taught me. She just expected me to know.

I hear you. This is a rough fall for a lot of us, I think. Depressing skies aren’t helping, either. Good for you for getting those self-care things done. I really struggle with those when I’m down.

I’m making this sound easy, but it’s agonizing for me. I mention the eating because I often forget.

When that happens, I just pick one. Doesn’t matter which one. It’s only the getting started that matters. For instance, did you eat? If not, start with that.

When I had my 2nd child, we were firmly established in the church and the support was incredible. I loved going to church and so did my kids, because we knew everyone and they knew us. I still miss that place, a decade after leaving. I made lifelong friends. We need more of this in secular America.

And ended up finding our community there. There just don’t seem to be a lot of secular institutions that can provide the same feeling—one of camaraderie and shared values, along with friends along the full spectrum of age. Older moms became mentors and younger moms became friends.

I went and grabbed my baby from the nursery and then collapsed against the side of the building. Liberals love to talk about childcare, but they are so rarely there to support new moms like churches are. We finally found a nice, liberal, Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship.

Same. I got a couple of things done when I made a list, broke it down to its smallest individual tasks and tried doing the first of the tasks. Usually, getting started is my problem. But today was all boring stuff and I am wiped.

I’m trying to remember whether he has kids in the books. I, too, am worried.

Personally, I favor them doing it. I’ve always hated phone calls. Wish someone had taught me to do it when I was young.

It is sometimes left out. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they chose a sanitized version.
