Heels are the devil. But I find them so pretty! So I’m living with the consequences of my life choices.

At my son’s high school choir concert. It features every elementary & middle school choir in the pyramid, plus 4 more hs choirs. I try to remember these are precious moments. But, it’s a really really really long concert. And there weren’t enough seats, so I’m standing. #motherhood #notfortheweak

Gentle reminder. Ahem.

When I was a new SAHM, I ran into this at my first Moms meeting. Someone at the library story time had invited me and I was super lonely. We had moved when the baby was nine months. I made it up to the point when the speaker said she felt closer to God when folding her husband’s underwear.
These high childcare costs are pushing mothers not only out of the workforce but also--and maybe ironically--into political conservatism. Because moms pushed out of paid work often struggle with loss of identity. And because conservative Christian moms' groups often step in to fill that void. 1/🧵

Ok, my instinctual answer is the first one, but I have no good reason. I believe there is an actual grammar rule that covers such things, but I don’t remember what it is. Do you follow @bcdreyer.social ? He has posted about this sort of thing before.

Is $100 actually *cheap* for a sneaker? The latest Sketchers commercial has me wondering. Am I out of touch? That seems expensive to me. (I have shoes that cost more than that, but I’d never say they were cheap. And I don’t have that many, just my workhorse shoes).

Fascinating article about the neuroscience of reward behavior in rats and their joy. Joy keeps coming up as a topic a lot lately. I love learning about the ways I can increase it in my life.

Good morning from the DMV! It’s a crazy Monday, as always. The fox visited again last night, so this morning’s collie adventure was sniffing every blade of grass in the yard. Anyone else plagued by foxes? (I think they’re freaking adorable but they do taunt the dogs.

So don’t give up hope. Do not despair. That is what they want, and we shall not give them that satisfaction. In Japanese, there is a word my mother used to say to me.

“Gaman, Georgie,” she’d say. It means to endure with fortitude and dignity. We all could benefit the spirit of Gaman. /5
