Lots of them are quite nice. As with stick built it depends on the QA processes of the builder. And also how good the installer is (that’s where things frequently go wrong).

Also let’s face it, Google is no longer a great resource for this kind of thing, what with AI, SEO etc. Why wouldn’t you ask humans who actually know the area this question?

There’s no real explanation other than anti-indigenous racism I think. I can’t believe that kind of ad would have been run if the victims were white.

I grew up in a town in Eastern Ontario with virtually no visibly Jewish population and I certainly knew about the Holocaust by grade 7. I don’t believe his story is credible at all.

One thing I think (many) Dems and the current iteration of labour have in common is that they seem to think that getting elected/governing is an end in and of itself, rather than getting elected is a way to advance policy goals to which they are deeply and consistently committed.

Collective blame, or suggesting that one group of people is *uniquely* evil, is always extremely dangerous. And ironically this is also the same reasoning being employed by Ben Givr et al to justify the war crimes against Palestinians!

I love the Temeraire series. Other than the first half of the second to last book all of them worked for me. A cada quien su santo, etc.

Though looking at the laws it seems like there might be an important difference in the structure - looking at the UK it seems the requirements in 1(2) are disjunctive (“or”) while (D) in the Canadian legislation includes the harms in A-C as a constituent element of the offence?

Interesting - would be interesting to hear from someone who practices in this area in the UK if the designation is likely to survive JR in that case. Seems like it is inconsistent with the requirements of the law in that case as there was no likelihood of bodily harm?

Does the UK law contain similar requirements to (A)-(C) (ie that the property damage has to be likely to result in death, serious bodily harm etc?)

Interestingly Canada’s first non-white Supreme Court judge is Baha’i - he was raised in a secular Ismaili Muslim household and then converted to the Baha’i faith (his wife is an Iranian Baha’i refugee). Because of his name (Mahmud Jamal) a lot of people assume he is Muslim.

We need a form of ownership for high-density housing that is not condo ownership. Condos have become toxic to a lot of buyers for exactly this kind of behaviour.

This is really really important. So far on here I’ve mostly seen people mad it wasn’t done sooner, not enough, etc. Those are all valid feelings but not a useful approach to affecting political change.

Has anyone looked at housing costs and the relationship to birth rates? Anecdotally, I am in my late 30s, and cost of housing was a factor considered by many friends and colleagues as a reason for limiting family size.

I remember seeing an article about a young Israeli going to prison for refusing to join the IDF and there were people On Here who were criticizing her for not being sufficiently condemnatory of/too compassionate towards her fellow Israelis.
