#noKings Atlanta is at capacity/overflowing!

The Atlanta #noKings protest technically hasn’t started yet but is already hoppin

My kids just got home from their last day of school and I officially have two High Schoolers in my house- my daughter is now a freshman, and my son is now a senior.
Somehow, this pic feels like just yesterday...

The best part of #adobeSummit are puppies! (And 33 sticks brought our own this year)

I would never have guessed I’d be having to write in bubble letters so much in adulthood! #standUpForScience

Side note, there was a bot pretending to be John on substack. Apparently AI still doesn't know the inside scoop on sneezing not being normal- it was a good capcha test:) . But ChatGPT's attempt at an answer is both comical and a bit frightening.

There are too many little details that just aren't quite right.
AI is sourced by real images and real places, so it's not surprising if there are places that look like this.

I've had good luck with it, especially if it claims 99% or above. I might not use it in a court of law, but it's handy for random internet engagement farms (that don't credit a photographer).
But either way, this particular photo is pretty suspicious.

Little details that just seem off. Any one detail could be written off (no footprints because of overexposure? maybe that tree is broken halfway up? maybe the bark is just a weird snow pattern?) but altogether is pretty fishy.
February 18, 2025 at 9:32 PM
Well, maybe not perfect.
February 18, 2025 at 9:31 PM
But on closer inspection, some stuff does seem off.
February 18, 2025 at 9:30 PM
Yep.

Sightengine disagrees.

It's not that it can't be real... Generative AI uses real photos as the basis. It used real photos of real redwoods to learn how to make something that looks like real redwoods.
Still fake, though.

AI gets is sourced by real images. So yeah, it does look just like that. But it's still AI.
February 18, 2025 at 8:48 PM
It is, then, the perfect AI photo.
February 18, 2025 at 8:47 PM
Sigh. Come on, Bluesky, be better than this.

My daughter has been begging to go to a protest but generally, they've been during school or other conflicts. My kids have this week off school so she got to go to the #50501 protest at the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta yesterday.
Good for her to see "this is what democracy looks like"
February 18, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Interesting! I still see Mexico.
February 12, 2025 at 4:26 AM
I've been wondering the same. There is this on the 16th (off tiktok/the 50501 website) but that's all I can find

Rallied outside Warnock and Ossoff’s offices today, demanding they do something (“block, delay, obstruct!”). Felt good to do… something. Lots of friendly honks and waves.

Best bit of the article, right here:

Another person declared the Trump administration to be “the most pathetic administration in history.” Still others took a stronger tone, with one person writing: “Holy shit this administration is run by a knuckle dragging troglodyte.”
February 5, 2025 at 12:06 AM
Should be even less than that!
February 4, 2025 at 6:11 PM
A neighbor knows I’m struggling with the state of things, and kindly left this on my doorstep with a note “I don’t know how but we’ll get through it.”
A much-needed bright spot.

If this was true (and I truly wouldn’t put it past them), it has since changed. Seems to be the generic 404 page now.
