My first weaving pattern just got published at Gist!

It’s called “Radiant Gradient” and I wrote it almost a year ago so it’s fantastic to see it out in the world!

Repaired a threading error. This is a sampling warp so it doesn’t really matter, but it bugged me.

I am having a productive Monday in the studio. Beaming a new warp and cleaning up the Pioneer Loom I finally found after a year of searching. I had one in Seattle, sold it before I left, and had Regrets almost immediately. Also a pic of my next sample draft.

This is a picture of my studio today. In the foreground is a table with a partially dismantled table loom, its guts, and a pile of cleaning supplies. There is also a printed draft, two cones of yarn, some clamps, and a stray warp separator. In the background is my primary loom with a warping valet supporting a short warp in the process of getting beamed. A weaving draft derived from a pattern in Stubenitsky’s new book Max8. If you zoom in you will see that there are four colors in use: mustard, deep red, spring green, and darkest blue, but they optically bend into gold and bronze with a twill pattern that gives a strong sense of depth. This is a twill shadow weave draft.

A warp on a loom in the process of having a section of green weft get cut out. I can get the last tertiary color in the warp, but had to drop the secondaries that were already woven in the first section of the gamp.

@pfrazee.com do you manage the iOS client? There is a defect with scrolling on profiles.

tldr: if the profile description is too long it isn’t possible to scroll. See alt text for details of the repro.
Scrolls fine. Note the “Reposted” text showing— it appears I need to be able to grab that block to scroll. Can just barely scroll if I try a couple dozen times and manage to catch the pixels between the separator bars below “Posts” and above the icons. Impossible to scroll.

There is about 18” of warp behind the heddles on my loom. I need to weave another 11.25”. Glad I have some stick shuttles.

Ok, I had to measure. I have 42” of warp left. I need 38” more for the project if I have 4” of fringe like I did at the start.

This is definitely fine I can’t imagine why I am worried.

I left 36” of extra space in my calculations. I lost maybe 8” to lashing on. So I have spent all my extra.
A tape measure reading 42” at the center of the beater, where the fell line— the end of the weaving— currently is. In the background you can see my hand holding the other end at the end of the warp.

I just officially entered the realm of warp chicken. It’s fine. I’m sure it’s fine.

I had a problem with beating square, but I planned a generous loom waste + oops factor into the warp. It will be enough. I am sure it will be enough. I am not worried, this is just fine.
