I really think most people outside of the UK, even the terminally online ones, have no idea how bad it is over there. The new youth gender service there requires a mandatory 2 day psychoeducation course where they teach you how to do conversion practices on your kid.

It’s insane that I have to say this, actually. We have the benefit of witnessing exactly what has happened overseas. If you believe we can’t get that bad, you’re wrong - especially if we don’t fight it.

We got to this point because National think attacking trans kids are a safe political target. The solution to that isn’t to play it safe, it’s to shift the damn Overton window yourself.

I’m sure they think of it that way, but I think they’re doing long term damage by not showing clear leadership here. “Let the doctors make the decision” is the politically safe language. Our basic human rights shouldn’t be left to the minor parties bc lab are scared of it hitting their bottom line.

I have had Labour MPs give me their word they’d reverse it, and I appreciate that. I also know our communities won’t trust that until they hear it themselves, in public - especially having watched how UK Labour handled this.

I think I’m probably justified in saying that I have more balls than the Labour Party put together, considering one is quibbling about the words “we would reverse this ban” and the other is taking legal action to reverse it herself.

Then Ayesha should say that in public. I’m tired of Lab saying one thing to us privately and not committing in public. It took the greens what, two days to release a media statement committing to fixing it?

It’s actually newer than dysphoria - from the ICD-11 and sits alongside sexual and reproductive health instead of disorders

Yes this exactly

Yeah exactly! And then during periods where I have less to spare, I can stop buying them and just listen to all the ones I already have! Lots of digital releases are pretty cheap on Bandcamp too, it took me maybe 6mo buying a $10 album every other weekish to build up a library I can happily shuffle
