Scene in 1 of 2 overflow room. 74+ speakers here to urge @saccounty.gov to deny permit to destroy 1000s of heritage valley oaks for *massive* industrial scale solar project. Alternatives exist that don’t sacrifice irreplaceable habitat. I’m here as a long time Sac resident in Sup Serna’s district.

Latest example of why I stopped subscribing to the @sacbee.com : Unlike other major CA papers, they went w/a full page feature about a former pro sports team owner, not the nation’s largest single day of protest. (Also boo to @sfchronicle.com which didn’t mention a thing on their front page.)

John Burton was a lion, but I loved that I got to experience him as more of a pussycat. He is forever the hero who stopped the sale of foie gras in California, and who consistently reminded anyone trying to re-legalize it that they’d have to reckon with him. It was important to him. RIP, John. 🦆❤️
