Living in Ohio definitely teaches you about holding contradictions. You can love your home fiercely while recognizing its broken systems. Our communities need observation and action.
"In 2024, “Ohio” took on a less positive meaning. No longer just a state, “Ohio” means something more similar to weird, bad or cringe."
Can confirm.
We should not fall for the false dichotomy of neoliberalism vs chaotic tariffs. Good interview with Brown. Wish he was still my senator.

The spirit of MLK lives on in this one Congressman, Al Green, who refuses to be silent—even as others seek to rob the poorest among us for the continued enrichment of the wealthy. Thank you, Mr. Green, for your “positive, righteous incivility.”

House Ways and Means Committee launched new social media (insta, X, YouTube) in January, exclusively promoting one party's agenda. Congressional committees—funded by all taxpayers—should not serve as partisan messaging platforms. #WaysAndMeans

U.S. Congressman Mike Rulli's hiring of someone barred from charity work in Ohio after collecting $149,000 for East Palestine victims—of which only $10,000 was distributed—exemplifies how government positions remain unaffected by prior controversies. #corruption #fraud

Ohio min wage at $10.70 with auto inflation adjustments; that’s still below 1968 purchasing power. Yes, labor shortages have pushed wages to $14+ in some areas, but no guarantees that will last. Adjusting minimum wage ensures gains can't be erased when market conditions shift.
OH minimum wage has increased to $10.70 as of Jan 1 thanks to voters enshrining adjustments for inflation into law in 2006.

If Congress had required inflation adjustments to the federal minimum wage back when it was at its peak in 1968, it would be worth $14.81 today.

Being open minded and seeking understanding are not synonymous. I may seek to understand someone’s motivation or the history behind a certain thing and also have no intention of changing my mind about my choices or plan of action.

Local races affect daily life the most. #Goodtrouble starts with casting an informed ballot in your own backyard. The closer to home, the deeper the impact. See voting schedule in Ohio here (not great on mobile 😏): www.ohiosos.gov/elections/vo... Voting season begins again March 21, 2025.

“If you still believe God loves us, well, we bless the heck out of that.
Bless you for giving a damn
even when it breaks your heart.

And forgiveness is releasing what you were never meant to carry anyway.” — Sarah Bessey

Just requested another stack of books through my library app. A generous library system in Ohio isn't an accident—it's what happens when we build public institutions that trust & benefit people. Getting a free library card is the easiest #goodtrouble you can start today.

Be skeptical, not cynical. Look closer, not away. What needs attention right here? Who's already doing the work?

I cook well without recipes because I know good things come from paying attention to what's right in front of me. Working with what's here. Adjusting as I go.

That's where I'll start.
