“So requisite is the use of Astrology to the arts of divination, as if it were the key that opens the door of all their mysteries.”

Jupiter at 15° Cancer, its degree of exaltation, a rare 12-year alignment, joined by Sirius and a sextile exalted Moon. Inspired by Leonora Carrington’s Hierophant, I created talismans + oils inspiring a return to daily rites + spiritual structure for guidance and grounding in uncertain times.

I started observing divine symbolism in the shapes that form when I pour the milk into my coffee and now I can’t stop 🤦🏻‍♀️ This was today’s manifestation 😆

☀️ Happy Solstice! ✨

Shine on, majestic one!
Shine on, O glorious sun!
And never fail to cheer
My life so dark and drear.
Whene’er thou shinest bright,
And show thy brilliant light,
The cares I know each day
Silently steal away.

Surrealist Victor Brauner practiced mimetic magic - the idea that what you paint can shape reality. In 1931, he painted himself with a missing eye.
In 1934, he painted Hitler with an injured eye.
In 1938, he lost his own eye in a fight.

Coincidence, prophecy, or magic? Did Brauner paint his fate?

Changing seasons remind us that we are in a relationship with more than just people. We are in a dynamic relationship with nature, with time, and something more. Rituals at seasonal turns help us grasp the mystery of life and honour and understand patterns and powers that are larger than ourselves.

In fairytales, the movement toward wholeness, often symbolized by a quest for a prince, princess, or treasure, is constellated by a lack in the kingdom. Likewise in any society, the collective unconscious constellates new archetypes to compensate for what’s missing in consciousness.

⭐️ I’m looking to interview practising astrological magicians who use talismans in their magical work for my MA dissertation under Dr Nick Campion. Whether your approach is planetary, ceremonial, intuitive, or rooted in another tradition, I'd love to hear from you.

(Feel free to DM with questions!)

Spent a great day at The Warburg Institute Symposium to wrap up the recent Tarot: Origins and Afterlives exhibition. A brilliant lineup of speakers, fascinating topics, and lots of ideas to to reflect on. It was also a rare opportunity to see the original artwork for the cards up close. ✨

Kept up the Finnish New Year’s tradition of casting tin (tinanvalanta) to predict the year ahead! You melt a tin horseshoe, pour it into cold water, and interpret whats in store by the shapes or their candlelit shadows. Such a nice way to mix creativity with tradition. What do you see in the shapes?

It’s almost Friday 13th - unlucky for some?

There’s even a name, friggatriskaidekaphobia, for those with a fear of Friday 13th. In Christianity, 13 is considered unlucky as the number that sat down to the Last Supper before Jesus’ crucifixion and therefore thought to be a harbinger for death.
