Thank you! I remember going through that during the Masters dissertation and thinking the same thing, but I can guarantee that in four to six years I will be freaking out because past me didn't do all her references properly... and massive good luck to you!

Hi! It's a little out of my time period but generally I'd say it's unusual - housebuilding during WW1 was minimal and linked to war activity (building homes around munitions factories, etc) and I haven't seen anything to suggest that wouldn't be the case for WW2, social or not. It's intriguing!

This is so interesting, thank you for sharing. I've just been reading Ross McKibbin's Class and Cultures and this resonates a lot with something I picked up in that, in terms of the perceived sociability and community of the working classes.

Thank you! My main feeling is imposter syndrome (I don't think it helps going from distance learning at the OU to an 'actual' physical uni) so it's great to know it's not just me!
