I don’t know how this wound up on a subway screen but one thing is clear - the children yearn for Bart Simpson once more

New entry on the “coolest shit of my entire life” list - the Oregon State marching band did a field show with Brass Queens original tunes and invited us to join them. Hearing our music at that scale was surreal.

This is a clip from our song Make Believe and the formation is our logo 🥹

The original posts were removed - this is what she said and it’s tame by her standards (which is why it’s like…what was DC expecting?) but prob not wise to post on your main professional account where you’re promoting work-for-hire stuff you did for a huge company without expecting any consequences

To those who followed me because of the David Byrne video, please enjoy this video of @brassqueensnyc.bsky.social covering Strange Overtones in the mountains

We’d rehearsed the song once ever, weren’t expecting to play it, and had to change a bunch of things on the fly because we don’t usually have vocals so we were focused on getting the form/parts right. Here’s another clip from the same show that’s more reflective of our energy

David Byrne came to my band’s show at a gay bar in Bed-Stuy and sang This Must Be The Place with us and I still haven’t processed it

David Byrne is the fucking man. He came to a random show my very niche all-women brass band played in the East Village a couple years ago and bought our 1st album and he’s been a consistent supporter ever since

Here’s a photo of me giving him our 2nd LP at a variety show he invited us to play

Never seen anything capture the experience of being in a touring band so perfectly

People who call social media toxic with no qualifiers clearly aren’t on the Acapella app. You can’t edit takes or import audio/video so it’s just people doing their best with their phone mics and we’re having a ball. This outrageously talented man rules the app with his Take 6 covers

It’s a lot more interesting than the other admittedly effective method of releasing one promo image and using it everywhere. This image of Brendan Fraser is seared in my brain

I’ve been lucky enough to play quite a few imposter syndrome-inducing “pinch me” gigs but seeing my band on the same line as Kokoroko with Kamasi Washington headlining is making my head spin

Really enjoying Spectrum. Transportive and completely unique. The twisty, eclectic scripting is reason enough to check it out, but the artwork takes it to another level - gorgeous, inventive visual storytelling from one of the best in the biz. Especially recommend for folks who love music comics

Read In by Will McPhail earlier this year and it’s an absolute triumph. Hilarious, relatable almost to the point of suffocation, sincere and emotional. It’s a very grounded story that feels huge because he has so many clever ways of visually capturing the magnitude of emotion in mundane interactions

Recently read Youssef Daoudi’s Monk! and really enjoyed it. A lot of creators have tried to do Jazz Comics that feel authentically improvisational, but this is one of the few examples I’ve seen that really nailed it. Love how wildly inventive it is with its visual interpretations of music

This is a mystery that’s been haunting me for months. For some reason the movie Flubber came out several weeks early in Pennsylvania. The movie wasn’t shot in PA, the director wasn’t from there - no apparent connection

Do any of my 3 followers know where I can start getting to the bottom of this?
