RFK Jr.'s decisions based on vaccine hesitancy threaten me, a productive citizen of this country. As an immunocompromised person, vaccines are essential to my continuing to contribute to our society.

If he doesn't want to get vaccines himself, fine. But stop getting in the way of people that do.

How long do people need to exist to realize that we are all human, with its cruelties, joys, aspirations, and sorrows? For thousands of years we have engaged in hurting "others" while claiming to love our own. We are all, ourselves, part of the same humble, glorious potential of humanity.

I couldn't get to my indie bookstore yesterday, so I ordered a couple of books from them instead. I opted to pick up in the store, so I am sure those 2 books will become at least 4. 😁

Maybe this makes me a bad person, but I don't feel sorry for a woman who gets her purse stolen after a photo op wearing a Rolex in front of caged human beings. Stealing isn't right, whether it's a purse or a person.

The inability to accept responsibility for one's mistakes is weak. A person with an ounce of integrity would have resigned already. #PeteHegseth

Reread the Declaration of Independence. While not a legal document, its grievances against King George III are strikingly similar to modern grievances to this administration.

I live by one simple phrase: "There but for the grace of God go I."

A good thing to remember when considering everything going on.

#NationalLibraryWeek kicks off today! It’s a time to celebrate the places that welcome everyone, spark curiosity, and strengthen our communities.

This week, take a moment to discover—or rediscover—what makes your library special.

What draws you to the library?

Tariffs are, in effect, a regressive tax. If you already have to decide between medicine and food, then even a little additional expense matters.

On the other hand, if businesses / nations capitulate to demands so they can get relief from tariffs, Trump owns them. We don't want that either.

Another crazy idea probably inspired by being a library: what if we 24/7 called our representatives' offices (especially if they're GOP) and read excerpts from literature that inspired the creation of agencies and services. Like "The Jungle"? A little reminder.

You have to see this.

PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.

I wish I had Pete Hegeseth's confidence - or false pride. I'm well-qualified and good at my job but still regularly feel like I'm screwing up.

My current audiobook. I recommend if you are looking for hope in the many dark times America has overcome. Unfortunately, what's happening now is just a remix.

Words have power, ya'll. Otherwise there wouldn't be lists of words "discouraged" in government documents, or threats to deport people exercising their First Amendment rights. Use your words!

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

True strength includes grace, kindness, compassion, and compromise. You have to be confident in yourself to be able to make room for others and listen, learn, and adapt - but stand your ground when necessary. Americans: you are stronger than the bullies in the White House.
