MLB bat path metrics, speed training, fitting tech: Is hitting finally catching up?
With hitting arguably harder than ever, teams are looking at data, technology drills and, yes, new bat shapes to get an edge.

it’s not a circle change because the middle finger is off the ball. Maybe this picture will make it more clear. It’s also been my header for months.

Kristian Campbell now up to #2 on the fWAR hitter leaderboards

Roman Anthony should be penciled in at LF everyday for the Red Sox.

Kristian Campbell is so much fun.

Crochet threw way cutters in game 1 than he ever did in an individual start last season. Added slightly more movement, both vertically and horizontally.

some numbers on the cutter yesterday:
33% CSW
34.6% whiff rate
.232 xwOBA against

much needed for the Sox offense, esp if the BB% gets back to previous norms.

Crochet, Bregman, and Buehler additions while keeping your blue-chip prospects (+Casas) is a great offseason! most excited i've been for a Sox season in quite some time.

That QO really hurt his market, this seems pretty low. Think he’s gonna be really good for them esp in a ballpark that suppresses XBH.

Going from the 2nd highest park factor (Fenway) to the 3rd lowest (Petco).

those Flaherty medicals must be crazy. regardless, that's a deal that every team in MLB should be lining up at the door to make.

looking at ZiPS projections; "Campbell and Roman Anthony project to be Boston’s third- and fourth-best offensive players, respectively."

Keller + for Abreu seems like a comfortable range as to what PIT & BOS would be willing to deal. Chandler/Jones would cost far too much prospect capital.
December 14, 2024 at 3:25 AM
Hearing a lot of talk on Castillo/Jared Jones. I’d be open to both but i don’t really see why these would be the routes chosen over simply paying for Flaherty or even Buehler.

losing Montgomery hurts but GARRETT CROCHET baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 11, 2024 at 7:17 PM
Can’t even fathom a team spending that much money on Soto. Firmly believe that Ohtani is the only player in baseball deserving of a $600+ million dollar contract.

On-field productivity-wise, i think Chapman is a great signing and way better than shelling out the 4+ year deal for Tanner Scott. They’ve patched up the LHRP situation quickly and cost-efficiently between him and Wilson.

Wow that’s a lot of money. Curious to see what the deferrals look like in this case.

i’m thinking it’s gonna take 6/$170m to sign Fried.
NEWS: Two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell is signing a five-year, $182 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, sources confirm to The Athletic.

with most of the talk on Garrett Crochet, i think Bryce Miller is the target I'd want Boston to be in on. 5 seasons of control so cost will be high but he's got #2 starter written all over him for the rest of his contract. SEA is so desperate for ML hitting too.

imo the route of trading for Crochet and not signing an impact starter (Fried/Snell/Flaherty/Burnes) is the most pathetic route Boston could go this offseason.
