Two sides of the same coin.

Lionized. Lauded.
Elected.

Vermont keeps making a liar out of me. I told them not to expect a white Christmas, but they got one.

"Don't expect regular trick or treating," I said.

Rutland: /shuts down traffic for whole blocks, hosts garage disco parties

First, no one licks a tissue (p. 4). One spits on a tissue or wets it with one's tongue.

By p. 6, there's a sentence fragment I can't even "voice and tone" justify, and I tried. It's just lazy punctuation that irretrievably busts up either/or.

I do try not to drive-by edit but JFC. #booksky

Fern Lake. Yellow kayak. No filter.

First time back on the water since trying a short row post-Covid, only to land back in bed indefinitely, at the time.

A lazy paddle is...emotionally challenging. All I can see is a race course or a workout. My kingdom for a Hudson 1x...

Good start, though.

First time sitting and listening to a sourdough loaf crackle on the cooling rack... 🤯

This one touches on it a bit, but it really goes back even further. Start with Nixon.

My Westie has graduated to off-leash play in the yard.

(He's 4, but we moved from city to country and he's still a terrier, so the leash is always an option.)

My college bestie is (a) the diehard Sportsball Guy behind my love for the Orioles, and (b) a girl dad.

He still answers every sportsball question I ask promptly, sometimes with prejudice.

Cheesy latkes for dinner.

I used to make these with leftover mashed potatoes because my ex's nana made them that way.

But Nana was a Brit Of A Certain Age, and, though she was an absolutely wonderful woman, she was no kind of cook.

Peaches!

First time.

Not enough headspace, but they looked great before the pressure-canner. 🤷‍♀️

Main character is jilted wife of tertiary character in the last TJR book I read. Got it.

Snagged this at the library because I remember following Sarah Gailey on Twitter at the beginning of this process...

Committed to finishing it because the protagonist lives in #Oakland and there's been a murder at a school for mages in Sunol, of all places.

Love this!

I kept enlarging our garden in CA, but moving back to Vermont means everyone has a garden and sharing is sometimes...weaponized. 😂

This sequel begins with and relies so heavily on tender, clever correspondence between the characters that it's making me hate this internet age more than is proper, given the last 25 years of my life.

TOO REAL.

I did not get zuked in public; I stopped by my aunt's for coffee and she filled a bag with fresh-picked produce while I used her bathroom. 😂

Her garden is 2wks ahead of mine, so I don't actually mind.

The view from home: Post-storm fog in the valley at sunset in south central Vermont.

Honestly, it's no wonder I fell in love with SF and Oakland.

Ugh.

1. The neighbor is clearly the killer.

2. I am never taking a recommendation from this library assistant again.

I threw together a crumble with blackberries from my yard and maple syrup given by my own trees. Cabot vanilla Greek yogurt is local by default.

A. I don't even know me anymore.
B. I am a crumble of all other past mes.
C. Needs more butter.
D. All of the above

"Two rowers in one house...is no good." Coach Jovan Jovanovich, my first competitive coach, upon meeting my husband...who got me to the boathouse in the first place.

Good luck, kids.
