What a great thread. This IF Stone collection is a fave, esp his Vietnam work — the forensic use of congressional records, obscure government agencies, etc to single-handedly expose Pentagon lies *weekly*. Incredible lessons in investigative journalism - just ask questions and do a little math.

Agreed. Shame it took them so many hours to change it. So many bad headlines across the majors tonight - incredibly ignorant, lazy and offensive. I think the WSJ did pretty well tho - put the focus right on the attack and the ludicrously blatant lie.

Totally different level of trolling/tribute, but in Winchcombe England there’s a church where the dude hired to carve the gargoyles decided to make them incredibly unflattering portraits of local dignitaries. Approx 600 years later, they are still there.

He didn’t write those exact words, but it’s the message on every single page of It Can’t Happen Here - and boy, that book is even scarier now than it was when we were all rereading it just 7 years ago.

Yes. I will say I kind of like how the poster, while definitely complaining about having a bad night, takes the time to be grateful he hadn’t run afoul (yet) of @kathryntewson.bsky.social
