Here's my cat Dagnar, Star Trek spoilers, cool art I found to share, and occasionally unhinged political views.
I used to put hair clips on my face and pretend to be the smart and likable engineer Geordi LaForge. In hindsight I'm not sure why they suddenly had a ship's counselor, but at the time I was aware from TV that people were doing therapy. I like Troi, but feelings are uncomfortable on a starship.

All that being said, the series has time to spend with the crew. Captain Picard has integrity, and we get to see it constantly. He leaves the swagger for Riker, who gladly swings it around the ship and on missions. He's not dishonest, at least.

There are 26 episodes per season, 2x as much as we're used to. I'm not particularly fond of the final episode, with the novelty of the cryogenically frozen random assemblage of earthlings, but the encounter with the Romulans reveals the tense nature of the Federation's relationship with them.

Ep15 was great, it was all over the place with weird aliens, holodeck surprises, and high-stakes subterfuge. Then a new alien calls us "ugly bags of mostly water," and we learn more about Worf and the Klingons. Ep23 we lose our chief of security, who blurts things out sometimes but we 💖 her anyway.

We get some horny aliens, more Ferengi, and more Q. The return of Magel Barrett as Lwaxana Troi and the voice of the ship's computer! Then we get our first holodeck gone awry in ep12; subsequent holodeck disasters are more interesting than this one imo, but we have to start somewhere.

Ep4 we get to meet the Ferengi, then ep5 The Traveler, who takes a mentor-like interest in our boy Wesley Crusher. I hated Wesley at the time, but now I realize it's his dialogue and cloying earnestness that was bothering me. Wesley Crusher was a valuable crewman and saved the day multiple times!

We get to meet Q immediately, a chaotic, mischievous, godlike alien who leads us right in to Picard's eloquent litigation, and we will get to see more of both as the series goes on. The place gets real horny real fast in ep2, but at least it's due to a mysterious illness. Don't even watch ep3.
