Liberal from way back, have four black cats, married, working in higher ed.
I know that struggle to grab their horking bodies and move them off furniture, rugs, our bed…all the surfaces except bare wood or tile. I have one who will hork where I put him, take two steps, and hork again on the rug (or other location) I just moved him from. He’s my favorite.
