It's solid. I don't think it lives up to the expanse particularly in terms of world building but it's still a good read, think you'll enjoy it.

So I fully agree that a game should cost $100 - hell, maybe even more - to reflect the increase in time it takes to make a game, inflation, etc.
But I'm only good with that if it comes with the removal/reduction of stuff like loot boxes, season passes, etc. And I have no faith that would happen.

I agree with your point, I really wish he'd have found a way to leave it in. But I don't know how he would have pulled it off and did it justice in a movie that was already running up on 3 hours long, and dealing with the dual climax would be super tricky.

Qualicum Beach is a nice place to stop if you're heading up the Island.

We got a new pvt right as we deployed to the Arghendab. He bought a bunch of aftermarket gear and put it on his kit - think big rambo knife, punisher patches, etc. We made him go up to every NCO and officer in KAF and ask them if they thought he looked cool until he started crying. Bullying works.
I obtained this from a community member minutes after arriving on scene following a raid at the Cypress Park Home Depot this morning. they detained day laborers.

Which isn't to say The Troops don't contain assholes - I knew lots personally.
But the military at least tries to instill ethics and morality, even if it's mostly to cover it's own ass.

former Army troop here. Military tends to be a pretty accurate cross section of society which I doubt DHS is (would bet it's white af).
Plus people join the mil. for lots of different reasons - economic opportunity prob biggest one - which I don't think the average DHS/Fed Law Enf. type does.

At this point, why bother finishing it? There's no way it'd live up to expectations. Not only that but (IIRC) it's the second to last book in the intended set, and - not to be too harsh here - it seems unlikely he'll live to finish that last one given his current writing pace.

Though honestly I'm not sure it'd be much better if we limited it to college players
