I truly believe that software will save science!
Besides the principle of the attack on science, what also annoys me about this graph is the fact that looking at the amount you save (1 billion being generous) its not a lot of money compared to the debt…which is supposedly why they did this in the first place, right? 🧐
Here’s how Trump’s war on science is going. NSF funding is at the lowest level in decades. We’ll lose knowledge, generations of scientists, and US competitiveness.

Probably one of the coolest marketing videos Ive seen of AI 4 Geoscience. I love how they say: “GeoAI empowers you to do what you’ve always done but better, faster, and more precisely.” It feels a lot leas like snake-oil and more about empowerment.
Check out this video to see real-world GeoAI applied to GIS workflows to solve problems. Not just messing around in notebooks and comparing accuracy stats :) mediaspace.esri.com/embed/secure...

Im glad papers like this come out. In my very limited experience with extremes, people kept telling me there should be some trend in the data but i couldn’t find any for the life of me. Especially with observations. Reanalysis and simulations are a different story. Great job! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
"Mediterranean precipitation has largely remained stationary from 1871 to 2020, albeit with significant multi-decadal and interannual variability" , a research led by @sergio-vicente.bsky.social and published today in @nature.com.web.brid.gy
Check our article that analyses the dynamic of Mediterranean precipitation using a long-term and high-density database of meteorological stations.
