🔌💡 #Greensky It's #PlayEnergetic day for my climate solutions class. Students are having so much fun! And they're learning a ton. Climate and energy educators: I can't recommend this game highly enough.

🔌💡 This slide from the Electrotech deck is analogous to a point that @georgemonbiot.bsky.social makes: if alt proteins can displace the low-value parts of a cow used as ingredients, that raises the price at which meatpackers needs to sell high-value parts of cow in order to break even.

Thx! Someone sent me a link to this chart a couple of days ago, & I'm going to use it in my next battery presentation, set against a graph showing BESS deployment in ERCOT across those three years. It's relevant to us, in NY, because we are getting ERCOT-like price spikes. This is June 24, 2025:

Best investment I ever made in my home: installed a permanent awning over south-facing windows. Before, had to keep curtains closed all summer long - dark inside and STILL gained 15° F in a day. Now I get indirect sunlight (direct in winter, b/c sun is low), and run the AC about 1/4 as many hours.

Can you help interpret? Bottom line is Day Ahead bids. Top lines are forecast and actual loads. If I'm reading right, it looks like much less was bid day ahead than actual load -- though I don't know why that would be, so suspect I'm reading it wrong. From: www.nyiso.com/real-time-da...

🔌💡 I know I just keep posting essentially same post... but I keep thinking we're at a peak. Look at this! Everywhere... but look at Long Island!

This is getting really bad... a lot of people aren't going to be able to pay their bills. $6875 in LI now.

5:38PM -- prices down a bit elsewhere, but $4345 in LI! These are ERCOT-like peaks.

Prices have backed off a bit, even though load is higher. My uneducated guess: it looks like actual demand was running ahead of forecast demand until about an hour ago, so they must have been firing up peakers last minute. Now actual and forecast are in line, and spot prices have fallen.
