Skinny kid from Cleveland.
The sadness and tragedy are only surpassed by the inevitability.

We've built an entire mobility system entirely and solely for cars. The harm that causes is unavoidable.

Also, while we're at it... Let's blame car drivers for the crashes they cause.

Public notice about pedestrian and bike safety/behavior isn't necessary, meaningful, or effective when *all three* of these crashes were caused by adult drivers hitting kids with cars

Luckily, the wildly dangerous design that the original consultants came up with is not locked in. The City wants a better design. But it remains to be seen what ODOT and traffic engineers will allow. Hopefully, it won't be a plan that kills people and devalues Cleveland land.

Also, many ppl go to the lakefront at sunset. And with the updated plans, more ppl will do that. That's cool!

And...

The huge increase in pedestrian deaths in this country in the last decade has been almost entirely driven by crashes at dusk and at night.

More ppl + higher risk = more danger.

I wish I were being hyperbolic. Attempting to have a single street meet the needs of both a high volume of commuters *through* Downtown AND a high number of residents/workers/visitors *in* Downtown is impossible.
