🌱 Time to turn the compost today. I'm always amazed at the different kinds of fungi that I often find there. Not sure of it's name, please let me if you know.

🌱 Hmm..raspberries. It's also been a bumper year here in central Newfoundland, and we're also getting desperate for rain. That's unusual for our maritime climate.

Excited for this. I hand pollinated the watermelon 🍉 around 3 weeks ago and it looks like it took. This is the first time I've had success with watermelon

🌱Wild blueberries and raspberries from my backyard. It's not the biggest harvest nor the largest berries, but probably the best I've ever tasted. The birds seem to think so too; the robins and juncos have been filling up on them the past few days.

A highlight of the summer is watching my 6 year old niece and her Unicorns United teammates play their first match against an out of town team. There was various levels of ball skills, but all encouraged each other and displayed tremendous enthusiasm for the beautiful game.

🌱About 10 ys ago I planted 12 yellow and 12 red tulips. Dig up and divide every couple ys. They have grown remarkably. Noticed some new yellow ones have red stripes. Guessing x pollination. This yr a red tulip with one petal that is half yellow. Thinking genetic mutation. @toddboland.bsky.social

Remember the bags of leaves from the fall? Here's what it looks like after I've run the mulching mower over them and let them sit for the winter. Perfect for seed starting , amending our poor soil or as mulch. Oh and the earth worms absolutely love it!🌱

🌱I'm jealous of the tulip and daffodil pics I'm seeing in the gardening feed. Too early for that here in Canadian zone 4 where the ground is still frozen below the top few inches. Though the crocus poking up in the lawn do bring hope and joy.

🌱Pruning raspberry canes. A garden task that used to wait until spring because of deep snow. Been able to do it Christmas - New Years holidays for past 5 years. Mild temps today so the little snow we have will soon be gone.

Forcast is for snow overnight, so pulled storage container out of the closet to look for gloves. Found these trigger mitts that were knit by my grandmother as a Christmas gift before she passed away 6 years ago. Nans are special people. Hug yours if she is still here.

🌱 I'm the neighborhood leaf collector 😃 BIL dropped these off couple of weeks ago and there's been so much rain that I haven't been able to run the mulching mower over them. I then put in a pile for a year to make leaf mold. The garden loves it!

First time trying this. Daffodil bulbs are equally spaced in egg cartons and the cartons are buried in a trench. Not my idea. Saw it online somewhere but my aging memory can't recall where. 🌱
