It's always funny to see these. The bar for effort on these type emails is so low. I believe in you, you can do it.

Has anyone tried using mesoscope.scripps.edu/beta/index.h... and CellPAINT2D to try to illustrate/simulate phase separation? You can make multivalent interactions, but they don't unbind, at least that I can figure out.

It's a beautiful day for disc golf!

Fluorescence Friday huh? How about this wild spindle from Xenopus tissue culture cells? This was taken last week during out Cell Biology grad module.

I'll try posting a video in the comments to this post. I tried an animated gif already and it didn't seem to work.

Pretty good pumpkins from the kiddos this year!

Happy Halloween!

I haven't posted there in almost a year, but today it's official.

I got in under the 10% mark. Does this make me cool?

Had a team building event at the Linda Hall Library yesterday and got to do a pretty cool thing! Thanks to @finchinthestacks.bsky.social from the Linda Hall Library for showing us so many books, especially Micrographia!

The annual tie dye this year was great. We tried using black for the first time and it seems to work well! I still believe it's impossible to make a bad tie dye.

There's one in St. Louis too: images.app.goo.gl/mAAQmEfWgynN...
It drives in nearly all the big parades downtown.

We had ~90%. Eclipse glasses and a pinhole viewer worked well. I made a pinhole viewer box as well that worked by eye, but I couldn't get a pic.

Sometimes, for a one off experiment, you gotta get creative. If this approach works, I'll build something fancier later.

Follow up on woodhenge. I found the archeological report: apps.dtic.mil/sti/citation... This includes a diagram of the structure and it's orientation to the "Azimuth angles for the summer and winter solsticial sunrise and sunset for A.D. 1000" (pages 256-257) Just really cool.

Easter at the ballpark was a success. I'm not a Royals fan, but it was a fun time. #baseball #goCardinals

Got some disc golf in this morning with the family. We got to check out woodhenge, a recreation of a solar calendar found near the current site probably built around 1000AD. www.kcur.org/arts-life/20...

Last week we went to Florida to see the manatees and they did not disappoint! From an evolutionary biology standpoint, these critters have an interesting story. With no real defense mechanisms how did they survive?

It's been a while since I've used Cellpose, so I'm going through and starting from scratch again on a new PC/environment etc. I learned today that you can save Fiji compatible ROIS directly from your cellpose mask in python! Awesome! 🧪
