Egon Schiele (1890–1918) exposed nudity as a cultural construct. The nude was a performance shaped for the viewer’s comfort, the naked body could be honest, unfiltered, even political. His raw, angular portraits reject the polished, idealized nude in favor of something more truthful and unsettling.

With profound heartbreak, we share that Michael passed away peacefully last night after a long and courageous journey with cancer. Our world feels quieter today. He will be missed more than words can express.

The Sleep of Endymion by Anne-Louis Girodet (1791): This painting depicts the beautiful young shepherd Endymion, his body sensuously caressed by moonbeams of a goddess. Known for its graceful, androgynous figure and its homoerotic subtext. My interest in art history developed from this artist.

The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo (c. 1510-12): A fresco on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, this iconic image depicts God giving life to Adam. While only a detail, the muscular, reclining figure is one of the most famous male nudes in history, representing the idealized human form of the Renaissance.

J.C. Leyendecker’s illustrations featured elegant compositions, bold lines, dynamic colors, & idealized figures that, to gay men of the time, offered subtle hints of homoeroticism. He's also well known for his 322 covers of The Saturday Evening Post, outnumbering Norman Rockwell.

J.C. Leyendecker (1874–1951) was a leading illustrator of the Golden Age of Illustration. Though he lived discreetly as a gay man, his lifelong partner—also his favorite model—inspired many of his iconic male figures. Shown here, his work minus advertising text.

It’s the 2nd day of Gay Pride. You wake up, give a big stretch, then realize… “where are my pants?!”
“Morning”, the 3rd sculpt sketch I did back in 2017. Hey look I sculpted another boner! This guy’s about 6.5” tall, made with colored polymer clay, no paint.

Andrew Wyeth (1917 - 2009), was a realist painter. "The Clearing" painted in 1985 was one of his few male nudes. He was one of the best-known U.S. artists of the 20th century. His subjects were the land and people around him. Wyeth often said: “I paint my life.” More www.artnet.com/artists/andr...
